How It Works
The Hornet Connection & Metabolization of Fat into Energy
To understand the connection between the giant hornet and these sports products, we talk to Dr. Takashi Abe who made this groundbreaking discovery of the perfomance enhancing liquid found in Japanese giant hornets.
Here are some excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr. Abe.
Question: So can you tell us more about what you discovered from the giant hornets? The particular species, the Japanese Giant Hornet?
Dr. Abe: Well, it didn’t start out in the right foot since I had a brush with death after being stung by a hornet! Because of this I started to carry out field observations to find out how I could catch hornets safely. It was during this stage that I began to notice some remarkable findings.
Q: What would they be?
Dr. Abe: That parent hornets fly between 70-80 kms per day hunting and bringing food to the nest to feed their young larvae.

Once they catch their feed, the adult hornets chew the small insects into a ‘meatball’. They carry their feed, which by the way adds another gram to their weight, and they head back home to their nest where their young larvae wait.

Q: So the adult hornets don’t eat these insect ‘meatballs’ themselves?
Dr. Abe: No. Instead, the hornets feed these ‘meatballs’ to their young larvae. Because adult hornets have constricted trunks (as thin as a piece of string), they can’t eat their catch. They can only drink small amounts of fluid. That made we wonder — how do they get the strength and stamina to fly such long distances without eating food?
Q: What did you do next?
Dr. Abe: I found a nest and took it back to the lab for observation. There I discovered that every time something touches the mouth of the larvae, the larvae secretes a clear liquid which adult hornets then drink. I analyzed this liquid and found that the ingredients were consisted of amino acids. The hornet’s amino acid contained 17 of the known 20 kinds of amino acid containing protein. It contained not only essential amino acids, but also a lot of non-essential amino acids which were not previously considered important in nutrition.

Q: So after the baby hornet eats, they in turn ‘feed’ their parents with this clear liquid?
Dr. Abe: Yes. The adult hornets suck on this liquid. Hornets have a lot of fat in their abdomen. This liquid, when taken, converts their fat into energy. This is the source of their remarkable strength and energy.
I named this nutritional liquid “Vespa Amino Acid Mixture”…
This mixture called Vespa Amino Acid Mixture is now sold as Hornet Juice® and VAAM® (sold in Japan only). Both are sports enhancing supplements for athletes. Another formula called Diet Amino®, is a weight loss supplement.

This great secret of nature combined with research into the physiology of exercise has resulted in the development of this amazing “Hornet Juice”.
How Hornet Juice Works
So how does this performance enhancing liquid work for you?
There are two primary sources of energy – glycogen and fat. Glycogen is easily burned within short periods of time and serves as a source of stamina in events that require short bursts of energy. The disadvantage here is in the limited amount of glycogen reserves. A mere 450 grams — approximately 1,800 kilo calories of glycogen is stored in your body (this may vary according to individual body types).

GLYCOGEN – Limited supply of energy in your body |

Stored Body FAT – Abundant supply of energy in your body |
Glycogen is not enough for a long period of exercise. Whereas fat is stored in abundance by the body. However, it requires large amounts of oxygen and is generally difficult to convert into energy.
Even the Slimmest Marathon Runner
Can Use His Body Fat for Energy!
Take a marathon runner weighing 130lbs with only about 5% body fat. This calculates to approximately 27,000 kilo calories of energy reserves. This is enough energy to run a full marathon consuming 3,000 kilo calories, nine times over!
This is what makes fat an abundant source of energy and stamina for endurance sports.
Enter the Hornet Juice Formula…
Metabolizing Fat for Energy
From the Moment You Start to Exercise
Because of the hornet’s optimum combination of 17 amino acids, this activate the conversion of fat for energy as soon as you start your physical activity. Thus conserving your glycogen stores. This enables you to maintain a steady pace to the very end. You will be able to call on bursts of power (from your glycogen reserves) when you most need them.
Normal Energy Consumption VS Energy Consumption with Hornet Juice

Without Hornet Juice, glycogen is used as energy. It is not enough for long duration of exercise, causing fatigue and lactic acid build-up. |

With Hornet Juice, large amount of fat is used as energy from the beginning of physical exercise. Glycogen is reserved, enabling a steady pace of exercise to the very end and bursts of power when needed. |
Improve Your Athletic Performance
– and Lose Extra Body Fat!
Another bonus from using the Hornet Juice is that you can lose extra body fat as a result of the conversion of fat into your energy source from the start of your activity. A lot of recreational and elite athletes don’t need to lose weight. However, if you are the type of person who spends countless hours exercising everyday, trying to lose weight, yet find it difficult to drop off the pound, our products would be ideal for you.
